Weekly Zephyr #131: Summer Sabbatical

There are so many things I’d like to tell you but I’m existentially tired.

I can’t corral my thoughts and get them to you.

What I’ve come to understand is that it’s time for The Weekly Zephyr to go on vacation for a spell.

If you’re new here, this is something that happens at least once a year. (The pandemic sunk the Zephyr for almost two years but that was different. We were having a sea change.)

What’s going to happen is I’m going to lie low until mid-October and fill my well. I’m going to read, and I’m going to try new ways of listening to my novel to help it get born in its new form. No spreading myself out for a while. Rest, concentration, dedication. A sabbatical, maybe, more than a vacation.

I wanted to tell you so many more things, I had all these glowing little parcels in my mind to share with you. But they’ve boarded the train ahead of me. No access. The luggage has been stowed.

We’ll have to wait.

I’m going to pause all the monthly paid subscriptions until I return so you’re not paying six dollars twice for nothing. For twelve dollars you can get yourself a couple of used books or an especially nice box of tea. A good spice. Fancy chocolate. Beer, socks. I don’t know. Everybody spend twelve dollars in what you think is a fun way while I’m gone.

See you in the autumn!

Love, Tina

P.S. I like how hesitant and almost apologetic the comedians look in the painting up top. It amuses me to send these two out to let you know the Zephyr’s going on pause. They humbly, almost sadly beg your patience. I like the idea that their whole show is just this one announcement.
