Weekly Zephyr #11: Presented in Magicolor Technicolor Kodachrome

Weekly Zephyr #11: August 10th, 2017

Isabelle Menin, E la nave va No.1, 2013/2014

Nothing is better than color. Not food, not air, not children or mountains or song.

Words, sex, pizza: GOOD. But not better.

What is the legal limit on color enthusiasm? How susceptible to color is it safe to be?  I'm riding the far edge of both of those things OR MORE ACCURATELY I've gone over the color-lovin' cliff already + hope to wake up shortly in the afterlife floating in a supersaturated, eternally-changing color ocean forever.

"Do you-ou-ou YOU? Feel like I do?" (click the Frampton picture or feel regret) (but do it later)

COLOR, WHY, WHY WHY ARE YOU SO MAGICAL WHY DO I LOVE YOU SO DO YOU LOVE ME? CHECK A BOX: _____YES _____NO (DON'T CHECK THAT ONE)

You don't think I'm going to leave you hanging on this and not tell you the names of these palettes, do you? The key is at the bottom of the newsletter. (Some of them, uh. Some of them are going to be a little disappointing. It's still your right to know.)

We are here today to frolic and opine about color and that is all.

Eleni Pratsi paints a lot of colorful circles which is all anybody really needs to do.

and now of course we need this: Girl Talk All Day Ice Cream Paint Job Loop

1. Color Me Beautiful

Do you know which color season you belong to? I'm acting all casual while I ask you that question but the fact is I'm very clenched about this in my heart. If you're a Summer, dress like a Summer, I beseech you. Cool, muted colors. Don't try and jam yourself into something lime, for example. In return, I, a Winter, promise not to appear before you in, say, faded rust. I will be where I belong in black and white and jewel tones*.

I'm a real martinet about it, if you want to know the truth. I'm wandering around the world like this, all contrary to the joyful spirit of color.  ("Oh, no, she's an Autumn. Why is she wearing that shade of pink lipstick? Ma'am. Ma'am." <F U R I O U S T E L E P A T H Y> Ma'am! Consider a warm-toned nude. Consider russet. Ma'am.")

*OH MY GOD, THIS ISN'T EVEN TRUE. I WEAR OLIVE GREEN ALL THE TIME UNLICENSED, JUST BECAUSE I LIKE IT. WHO AM I. WHO EVEN AM I. A HYPOCRITE, THAT'S WHO. I WEAR WINTER LIPSTICK AND ACCESSORIES WITH IT TO ATONE BUT STILL. I APOLOGIZE.   OH MY GOD, I EVEN WEAR GOLD JEWELRY BECAUSE I PREFER IT.   IN MY DEFENSE, I'M A CLEAR WINTER. WE OVERLAP WITH CLEAR SPRING, SO.  OH GOD.

French people need to learn this, too

2. Jim Carrey: I Need Color

Click right on Jim Carrey at work there in this image. It's wonderful. That's Jesus, by the way. I agree with this painting of Jesus.

   3. Auras.

You might well wonder in this next section whether all I'm ever going to do is hawk my grandmother's books. (I hawked her fairy book in Week 5.) Be reassured: I might do this one more time ever in future history, but that's it.

Here's a list off the top of my head of the ways she interpreted certain colors she saw in the aura, the ones I remember:

Yellow = intelligence Rose red = love Pink = affection Green = creativity (yellow-green manifesting in a more practical, working-with-your-hands kind of way, blue-greens in a more esoteric, fine-arts kind of way) Sky blue = religious feeling Lavender/purple = spirituality (as opposed to religiosity) Orange = pride, ego Dark blue = strong will Brown = selfishness Gray = fear Black = can't remember exactly but not great. Hate? Depression? MEMORY BANK TAPPED

What I wish is that we all had access to some Lion-The-Witch-&-The-Wardrobe-style doorways though which we could visit gigantic, individual color worlds for therapeutic getaways. Just dip out of your house while time stops and you go to some massive cobalt blue place. Colossal halls all that color. Pools, beings, drapes, drinks, scents that apply, flowers, artwork, music that is definitely cobalt blue/blood red/etc. You stay as long as you need to and come back drenched with it.

Who among you knows a person for this.
